In upstream VSF market too, the holiday atmosphere was strong while and some logistics issues were being addressed and offers saw some rise. This supported viscose yarn makers to hike offers during the week.

Spun viscose yarn market was insipid in China as spinners mostly ended their business, while some still raised offers a bit. Selling ideas for spun rayon yarn were reportedly steady amid thin liquidity.

However, VSF prices have started rebounding after a short period of descending. This will have favourable impact on yarn prices post Lunar New Year holidays.

In Qianqing, PC (65/35) 32s yarn prices were stable in the last week of January while 45s PC combed yarn prices rolled over on the week.

Blended spun yarn prices remained relatively stable in the last seven days in China, with however a few rates slightly declining.

Spinners were in holiday mood with production being cut in order to reduce inventories before holidays. Inventories were down, especially in case of 24s PC, 31 PC and 38 PC yarns.

Price offers for blended spun yarn dropped less sharply in China, ahead of lunar year holidays. Polyester-cotton prices have however been lowered in Qianqing, in line with a slight decline of cotton prices.

Yarn producers were trying to reduce their inventories before holidays and were ready to negotiate prices further.

Offers and selling ideas were reportedly steady for spun viscose yarn in China that week. They were adjusted up somewhat, indicating another way of closing offers as VSF prices stopped falling.

In India, 30s viscose spun yarn prices inched up INR1 a kg (down US cents 2 due to weak INR) in Indore market.

In China, cotton yarn prices have dropped 5-7% in US$ terms, with lower counts of PC yarn prices even experiencing a double-digit fall. PSF and VSF prices have more sharply fallen in the meantime.

In India, firm cotton prices pushed PC yarn prices up while the rise was limited by the drop in PSF prices.

With previous stocks digested, some yarn makers saw sale/production ratios closer to 100% or slightly lower.

In Qianqing, PC (65/35) 32s yarn prices fell to US$2.41 a kg while 45s PC combed yarn prices were down US cents 4 a kg in the last week of December.

Blended spun yarn prices further fell in China, which could eventually trigger a move on the international market and on domestic markets in India and Pakistan.

In Qianqing (Zhejiang), polyester-cotton prices were declining, although only for lower counts. In India, blended yarn pries moved in different directions in Indore and Ludhiana markets.

In India, 30s (65/35) PV warp yarn prices inched down INR1 a kg in Indore market.
