In Qianqing, PC (65/35) 32s yarn prices edged down US cent 1 a kg in the third week of January while 45s PC combed yarn prices rolled over on the week.
Price offers for blended spun yarn dropped less sharply in China, ahead of lunar year holidays. Polyester-cotton prices have however been lowered in Qianqing, in line with a slight decline of cotton prices.
Yarn producers were trying to reduce their inventories before holidays and were ready to negotiate prices further.
In India, blended spun yarn prices continued to move in different directions in contrast with the trend in cotton and polyester prices. However, weak INR kept US$ pricing down on the week, which spurred export of PC yarn in volume terms during December. However, PV yarn exports declined sharply during the month.
In India, 30s (65/35) PV warp yarn prices were down US cents 3 a kg (due to weak INR) in Indore market. In Ludhiana, PC 30s (52/48) prices also fell US cents 3 a kg, due to weak INR.
In Pakistan, 24 PC (52/48) carded yarn prices were stable at PakRs105 per pound (US$2.23 a kg) on the Faisalabad market while 30s were at PakRs112 per pound (US$2.37 a kg).
