Techtextil India 2017, the premium international show for technical textiles and nonwovens hosted the Techtextil India symposium, the premier forum for the technical textiles industry in Mumbai today on the day 2 of Techtextil India.
With India’s contribution in the technical textiles industry expected to grow at 12% CAGR and reach 1, 16,217 crore by 2017-18, the need for new technologies in garment manufacturing machinery is on a rise. Running into its sixth edition, the 2017 fair is scheduled to take place from 13 – 15 September in the country’s commercial capital – Mumbai. The show size increased by 50% since the last edition and will have space dedicated to 10 product groups and 12 application areas.
A mega textile park will be coming up soon at Chintalapalli of Sangem mandal in Warangal city with an estimated investment to the tune of Rs1,150 crore and it is expected to provide direct employment to 1.13 lakh people, said Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari speaking to the media at Chintalapalli where he attended the Haritha Haram programme on Tuesday.
Nearly 1,190 acres of land has been acquired from farmers without any hassles because of the special efforts made by District Collector Prashanth J Patil.
The Telangana state is trying to woo investors to the mega textile park in Warangal. The park, which is coming up on 2,000 acres, is expected to create large-scale employment. Around 1,200 acres have been earmarked in the first phase of development, and according to the minister, the vision is to have a “fibre to fabric (end-to-end)” facility.
Minister for Industry and Commerce KT Rama Rao said that at least ten industrialists from Tirupur have committed to invest in Telangana.
Telangana to support its textile industry is working to set up an exclusive market for grey and dyes clothes in Warangal, where the government proposed to set up a mega textile park.
The idea behind setting up exclusive market is to have all the elements of the textile supply chain at one place. The proposed market will come up in about 30 acre for which the land has been identified, said Jayesh Ranjan, managing director of Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation, the nodal agency for land allotments for industrial projects.
The Telangana government is formulating a new textile policy which will include incentives that match with those given by states like Maharashtra, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu to attract new industries. The new policy will be in line with the national policy.
The state government has decided to set up a mega textile park in Warangal, the largest cotton growing districts in the state and has sought clearances from the Centre for the conversion of forest land for it.
The new Textile Policy 2013-18 recently announced by the Karnataka state government aims to attract investment worth over Rs 10,000 crore in the sector during the five-year policy period but a growth close to three times over the previous policy period, create jobs for about half a million during the new Textile Policy period with majority of jobs in the rural areas and also make the State a preferred textile destination, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said.
