During the first half of this fiscal year, with stiff competition going on in the world markets, Pakistan cotton yarn exports managed to cross one billion dollar mark. Exporters told Business Recorder on Friday that there are only four sectors, with a turnover of over $1 billion during the first half of this fiscal year and cotton yarn is one of them.

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), headed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, has approved the Revival, Reform and Restructuring (RRR) package for the handloom sector to benefit about 1,500 additional apex and primary weavers cooperative societies. The implementation period of the Revival, Reform and Restructuring (RRR) package for the handloom sector has been given extension of two months (up to February 28,2014), informed the Ministry of Textiles in a press release on Wednesday. Earlier the last date of implementation period of this scheme was December 31, 2013.

TN govt to launch cotton cultivation mission

Cotton futures eased on Thursday in heavy trading, receding from the 6-month highs, beleaguered from the rolling of closely-watched commodities index funds. Volumes were heavy throughout the session as traders moved positions from the March contract into May.

The most-active May cotton contract on ICE Futures U.S. edged down 0.27 cent, or 0.3 percent, to settle at 88.58 cents a lb.
The spot March contract fell more sharply, finishing down 0.77 cent, or 0.9 percent, at 87.60 cents a lb.
