Major lifestyle brand partners with Polygiene

Anti-odour textile technology provider Polygiene has announced a new partnership with lifestyle brand Tommy Hilfiger, part of the PVH Corp group.

From spring 2020, Tommy Sport men’s and women’s tops, shorts and tank-tops will have Polygiene technology.

The Swedish textile technology provider said the use of Polygiene in these garments will help prolong their useful life, saving water by reducing the need for washing, while the prevention of bacterial growth will stop the premature break down of the fabric.

Apparel brand Arvind Fashions is planning to open 50 new stores of its men's fashion brand Arrow

Other licensed international brands of Arvind besides Arrow include Gant, Nautica, Izod, US Polo Association, Elle, Ed Hardy, Hanes, Cherokee, and Geoffrey Beene. The company also has a portfolio of 12 of its own brands.

Arvind has a joint venture with PVH Corp. for the Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein businesses in India and it also runs value retail chain Megamart.

Arvind had 1,137 stores across brands, 93 Unlimited stores and 32 specialty retail stores as of December 31.The textiles business of Arvind, with a base of Rs 6,000 crore, is growing at around 6% at present, said Lalbhai. Revenue at Arvind’s textile business grew 9.41% to `1,534.43 crore in Q3FY18.

Phillips-Van Heusen (PVH) Corporation - a giant American clothing company and owner of the Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein and Heritage brands after visiting Ethiopia has put forward 10 investment prerequisite to the Government of Ethiopia (GoE).

The prerequisites include consideration of tax incentives, logistics issues, priority for electricity power and getting a ready-made industrial park, according to sources.

Arvind Brands takes over Calvin Klein’s India business

Arvind Brands and Retail Ltd has bought over Murjani Group’s stake in Calvin Klein Inc’s India business for Rs 88 crore. The unit of Arvind Ltd, has entered into a joint venture (JV) with global jeans and innerwear brand, Calvin Klein Inc., to take over its India business.

The NYSE-listed PVH group owned Calvin Klein’s business is valued at Rs 180 crore, which owns the brand and 51 per cent in the JV. Calvin Klein in India is estimated to have a turnover of Rs 140 crore.
