AFA to make FloorTek an annual staple

FloorTek 2019 continued the tradition of being a veritable hub of the floorcovering industry. This year’s exhibition had 30 first time exhibitors, as well as 50+ returning exhibitors both local and international continuing a tradition of floorcovering innovation and excellence in Dalton. Because of the success of the event, and a high satisfaction rating among exhibitors, the AFA intends to make FloorTek an annual staple as opposed to holding it every other year.

Klopman, a leading European producer of fabrics for workwear, has announced its entrance into the South African market. This follows an agreement to form a partnership with Servworx, the second largest workwear rental company in South Africa.

Servworx is a new generation services company with a significant presence in the healthcare, hospitality, manufacturing, mining and construction, and security sectors. Servworx is Klopman’s inaugural African partner/customer, with the continent projected to be “a key driver of future global economic growth”, according to the manufacturer.

Polymer manufacturer Covesto has teamed up with Chinese designer Axis Liu for two customised concept shoes that will be on display at the K 2019 trade fair in Düsseldorf next month.

For the design of the running shoe, Axis Liu was inspired by a traditional figure from Chinese arts: the “Multilayer Carved Ball” which has a structure made of several layers. This effect, used in the midsole, was produced by a 3D printer.

New management for Messe Munchen Shanghai

The chief executive of Messe München Shanghai, Edwin Tan, left the company by mutual consent at the end of July owing to what the company has called “differing views on the future strategic goals”. He has been replaced by Xu Jia, who has been the company’s chief operating officer since 2013.

Messe München Shanghai is the largest subsidiary that Messe München has. Events it organises include ISPO Shanghai, which will next take place in July 2020.

Ms Jia will form a new senior management team with Stephen Lu as chief operating officer and Candace Hua as chief financial officer.
