Econyl- Regenerated nylon material by Aquafil

Aquafil, a leading company in the circular economy, has announced that Econyl regenerated nylon contributes to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) v4 points in four main categories. LEED v4 is the most current version of the LEED green building rating system established by the US Green Building Council. LEED is the most widely used green building rating system in the world.

British fashion brand Burberry has announced the launch of a collection made with Econyl; a ‘sustainable’ nylon yarn made from regenerated fishing nets, fabric scraps and industrial plastic.

This marks the latest brand to incorporate the increasingly popular Econyl into its range, joining counterparts such as Levi’s, Prada and Tchibo.

Today Aquafil S.p.A. finalized the acquisition of 100 percent of O’Mara Inc. for a total consideration equal to $40.5 million. The deal was completed through the Group’s U.S. subsidiary, Aquafil USA Inc.

O’MARA Inc.

O’Mara Incorporated — founded in 1970 — produces nylon, polypropylene and polyester fibres mainly in solution-dyed colors in its plant based in Rutherford College, N.C. In 2018, O’Mara reported a turnover of $40.1 million, with margins in line with those of Aquafil Group.
