Indian firm Orient Craft Ltd to commence operation at Irba plant

Orient Craft Limited, a 40-year-old apparels manufacturer and exporter based in Gurugram, Haryana, is formally set to commence its operation in Irba, Ormanjhi block, some 25km from Ranchi, from Saturday, the first such plant in the state of Jharkhand, to support its growing export business. The new plant will be jointly inaugurated by Union textile minister Smriti Irani and chief minister Das.

Orient Craft supplies a wide range of garments, home furnishings and knitwear to brands across the world, including GAP, Polo, Marks & Spencer, among others.

The BUA Group Nigeria’s foremost food and infrastructure conglomerate plans to establish West Africa’s largest private-led textile cluster in Kastina State for which it has choosen Swiss firm, Gherzi Textile Organization to study, design master and engineering for the development of mega integrated Textile and Garment Cluster.

BUA Group has entered into collaboration with the Kastina State Government to set-up a Textile and Garment Cluster which would generate over 25,000 jobs and revive the obsolete textile industry in Nigeria.

Mulberry trees are now a rarity in Cambodia as most of them having been destroyed during the Khmer Rouge era. Silk weavers in Banteay Meanchey, Kandal, Takeo and Phnom Penh’s main silk producing area of Koh Dach have no choice but to import raw silk from either Vietnam or Thailand. Commerce Minister Pan Sorasak said that investment from the Japanese company would help diversify Cambodian silk production and generate more jobs for women in rural areas.

Brandix India Apparel City (BIAC) signs four MoUs with the State government during the CII Partnership Summit-2017 organized at Visakhaptnam on January 27 and 28 at APIIC grounds with an investment of Rs. 250 crore to create 3,000 new jobs.

The MoUs are related to establishment of two Chinese companies Leung Fung Textiles and Tian Yuan, and two Indian companies Aggarwal Elastics and Manav Packaging in the Textile Park located at Atchutapuram near here.

Gujarat's textile policy 2012 plan to attract around Rs 20,000 crore investment and 2.5 million new jobs by 2017, so far under the policy, 549 textile units have got approval and attracted investment worth Rs 9,208 crore through varied units such as weaving, made-ups, processing, spinning, ginning and technical textiles.

The latest nod is for a textile and apparel park coming up on 62 acres in Surat and will house 42 manufacturing units and generate 1,900 jobs. So far, 12 such parks have received in-principle nod.

The Karnataka state government is holding ‘Invest Karnataka -2016’ for three days from February 3 for attracting investment from domestic and global firms. The government will be making every effort at Invest Karnataka 2016 to encourage investors to move away from Bengaluru and give impetus to tier-II and tier-III cities. Investors will go to small towns because of availability of human resources, land and labour.
