Land allotment cleared for Handloom and Textile Dept to set up textile park

The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet cleared a proposal in which land allotments cleared were 62.18 acres at Mylavaram in Kadapa district to the Handlooms and Textiles Department for the setting up of a textile park.

Around 21 acres at Serikolam village in Parigi Mandal of Anantapur district for the establishment of an industrial park and a multi-product SEZ at the rate of Rs.3 lakh per acre and 44.78 acres for a Mega Food Park at Settigunta village in Railway Koduru Mandal of Kadapa district at Rs.9.50 lakh per acre.

The Karnataka state government is holding ‘Invest Karnataka -2016’ for three days from February 3 for attracting investment from domestic and global firms. The government will be making every effort at Invest Karnataka 2016 to encourage investors to move away from Bengaluru and give impetus to tier-II and tier-III cities. Investors will go to small towns because of availability of human resources, land and labour.

The Central government’s move to set up a textile park in Tamil Nadu, particularly in Tirupur has been opposed by the Vellore Citizens Welfare Forum (VCWF) on the grounds that the cluster would worsen the already serious problem of pollution caused by the dyeing units in Tirupur.
