Sasol expands its ethylene capacity at Sasolburg

Sasol Ltd improves the production capacity of its Sasolburg cracker by installing a new ethylene splitter unit, known as Ethylene Purification Unit-5, or EPU5, that was inaugurated Tuesday. With this Sasol has expanded the ethylene production capacity of its 90,000 mt/year ethylene cracker at Sasolburg by debottlenecking cracker.

The move will lead to a downstream rise in production of 47,000 mt/year of polyethylene, Sasol said. The company currently operates a 150,000 mt/year low density polyethylene and 220,000 mt/year linear low density polyethylene plant at its Sasolburg complex.

Bangladesh to see increase in knit exports over wovens

The Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers & Exporters Association (BKMEA) sees knit readymade garment exports likely to exceed wovens again this year in the next couple of months.

Performance of knit exports shows an increase every year and in five months of the current fiscal the average monthly growth is more than 19%.

According to the association, during financial year 2011-12 knit exports share of RMG was 49.69%, whilst wovens amounted to 50.31%. These numbers have changed and in the last fiscal it was 48.69% for knits and 51.31% for wovens.

Russia a potential market for wool export

Cotton market on Monday continued to remain lifeless as where buyers and sellers moved to the sidelines. The trading activity dipped down to rock bottom and only a few deals transpired. However, prices remained steady and underlying sentiment were also strong.

Chinese Keer Group Co. Ltd. has appointed Moss & Associates of Greenville, S.C., to design and build a $218 million cotton yarn plant in the Indian Land community of Lancaster County.

Don Warren, executive vice president of Moss & Associates, said that the work on the facility will begin soon. Their team of design-build professionals will work to deliver the project on schedule and under budget, in a news release about the company’s selection to build the facility.

British wool continues to show improvement in prices
