Re:newcell using its unique method produced its first recycled garment

Re:newcell has developed a unique method able of regenerating textile fibres. The process was developed at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm and allows an environmental friendly and economical production of new textiles from used fibres. The company is now scaling up its operations from a scientific to an industrial scale.
 
As the demand for textiles has experienced a strong growth during the last decade and the world wide annual consumption has now reached approximately 73 million tons with an expected future growth rate of 3% per year.

As mills and spinners took interest in fresh buying to cover their immediate needs some swift trading was witnessed on the cotton market on Wednesday. In ready session, approximately 15000 bales of cotton changed hands between Rs 5350-5550, however, prices of seed cotton in Sindh and Punjab dropped modestly to Rs 2650-2700. The official spot rate increased further by Rs.75 to Rs5375.

All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (Aptma) has urged the government to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply to textile industries and speedy processing and liquidation of sales tax refunds.
 
The textile industry’s sustainability and growth are being damaged due to constriction in energy supply and liquidity crunch, said Yasin Siddik, central chairman of Aptm.
 
Energy supply constraints have led to forced closures of production capacities to the extent of 40 to 50 percent.
