New proposed Maharashtra textile policy ready not only to revive textile industry but boost economy

The Suresh Halwankar Committee, which had been constituted by the BJP government in November are ready with the new proposed textile policy of Maharashtra to revive the textile industry to boost the state's economy. The committee visited eight states to study their textile policies and met several unions and federations to come up with the suggestions.

A detailed discussion on the proposed policy would be held at Mantralaya on Wednesday and the final draft would then be submitted to the government for cabinet's approval.

A German textile manufacturer Heytex as part of a global growth strategy to expand its worldwide portfolio has acquired Pulaski based company BondCote, which also produces textile goods. As the two companies produce similar products that is industrial fabrics, BondCote will fill Heytex’s need to extend its global reach.

Heytex currently has centers in Bramsch and Neugersdorf, Germany, and Zhangiagang, China. With the purchase of BondCote, Pulaski will become Heytex’s North American center.

Indian textile industry confident demand to pick up soon

With a drop in Chinese demand for cotton and cotton yarn during this financial year, stocks available in the domestic market of India have increased. Though the domestic demand continues to be good for yarn and export to other countries is on, there is a fall in prices because of the increase in stock availability.

According to the industry sources, this trend too depends on the variety of cotton yarn. Export demand for cotton and cotton yarn is expected to revive soon as the Chinese policy on import of cotton and cotton yarn will be clear in a month.

Vietnam's southern economic hub Ho Chi Minh (HCM) City’s industrial zones (IZ) and export processing zones (EPZs) in 2014 attracted 752 million U.S. dollars in investment, up 23 percent year-on-year, sources from the city's Export Processing and Industrial Zone Authority (Hepza) reported.
