Munich Fabric Start 2016 to take place soon in Germany

The Munich Fabric Start is an international fabric trade fair, which takes place right on time for the start of the season semi-annually in Munich. Munich Fabric Start will be kicking off the Autumn/Winter 2017-18 season when it takes place from 30 August – 1 September 2016 in the MOC event center and the Zenith hall in Munich, Germany.

As the earliest international textile trade show, Munich Fabric Start opens the new season twice yearly with a vast selection of collections ranging from plains to haute couture fabrics and accessories.

Bangladesh textile millers have imported machinery worth TK71.19 billion in the fiscal year of 2014-15, a short up by over 40 percent compared to Tk50.63 billion in the last fiscal year of 2013-14 as many millers went for business expansion, said Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA) president Tapan Chowdhury speaking a press conference on Tuesday. The rise in machinery imports is attributed to the prevailing political stability.

The Pakistani Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has issued a detailed clarification in response to contentions expressed over double taxation by a Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) delegation during its recent meeting with the FBR chairman. It defines that the federal government is authorized to levy sales tax on supply and manufacturing of goods, whereas the power to levy sales tax on services have been vested with provinces.

Bangladesh has witnessed acceleration in machinery imports as entrepreneurs set up 26 textile mills in spinning, weaving, dyeing and finishing last fiscal year. According to data from Bangladesh Textile Mills Association, last fiscal year, $445.7 million worth of capital machinery was imported by the textile sector.

Capital machinery imports by the primary textile sector increased about 54 percent year-on-year in fiscal 2014-15 on the back of higher demand for raw materials from garment exporters. A BTMA certification is required for importing machinery for the textile sector.
