Turkey wants to stiffen up China textile imports

A CEO whose company exports to seven other countries, and has almost 150 stores in Turkey, expressed that, “We had been informed that we would need a lot of extra documents for imports from China, so we demanded this meeting.” He added that, “The ministry didn’t ask us to stop producing in China. It was a fruitful meeting. We asked them to postpone the plan until at least January 2019, which the ministry will evaluate.”

India’s polyester-viscose yarn export plunge 49.5%

In November, US$6.5 million worth of PV yarns were exported from India, down 49.5 per cent YoY with volumes at 2.33 million kgs, down 52 per cent YoY. Turkey continued to be largest importer of PV yarns from India followed by Iran with total volume at 1.3 million kg worth at US$3.66 million.

Iran, USA, Pakistan, Russia and Egypt were the fastest growing markets for PV yarns while Sri Lanka and South Africa significantly reduced its import of PV yarns from India.

Polyester-cotton yarn export from India falls 12.6%

In November, 5.4 million kg of PC yarns was exported from India, down 21.6 per cent YoY which was worth US$14.6 million, down 12.6 per cent YoY. Bangladesh and Brazil were the largest importers of PC yarn from India in November followed by Egypt. The top three countries accounted for 31% per cent of the total PC yarn export value.

Latvia, Guatemala, Honduras, Bahrain and Latvia were the fastest growing markets for PC yarns while Venezuela and Poland significantly reduced its import of PC yarns from India.

Japan reduces knitwear imports from India

India’s knitwear exports have declined with a market share of a meagre 0.3 per cent of the total knitwear products imported by Japan in 2014 in spite the fact that India enjoys duty free access to Japan.

Prashant Godghate, secretary general of Japan India Industry Promotion Association (JIIPA), said that if Indian knitwear exporters want to enter the Japanese market on a large scale, then they should improve the quality of their products and display sticking to delivery schedules. Also, they should come up with innovations in order to meet the preferences of Japan, he added.
