Caprolactum price remains stable to weak in China

In China, offers for liquid spot were quoted flat in the first week of June while solid goods offers were hiked during the week.

Asian markers, the SE and FE markers fell US$10-20 a ton. Sinopec raised its June nomination to US$1,540 a ton for liquid goods while Fibrant nominated June up at US$1,550 a ton for liquid goods.

High end goods nomination for June had not been released.

Caprolactum prices were stable to weak over that week on back of moderate demand and range bound benzene cost.

Nylon yarn price edges down in Asia

In China, semi-dull FDY70D/24F prices rolled over in the last week of May while FDY40D fell US cents 4 a kg.

Nylon DTY 70D/24F prices declined US cents 4 a kg while 30D/10F prices fell US cents 8 a kg during the week.

Monofilament 30D prices were down US cents 4 a kg while 1.5D staple fiber edged down US cents 3 a kg on the week.

Nylon filament yarn prices hovered at low positions on the back of firm nylon chip and caprolactum values. In the downstream, some fabric makers made replenishment as they lacked new orders, leading to slow liquidity.

Caprolactum prices rise on moderate demand in Asia

In China, offers for liquid spot rose US$15 a ton in the last week of May while solid goods offers were flat on the week.

Asian markers, the SE and FE markers rolled over during the week. Sinopec reduced its May contract nomination by US$80 a ton for liquid goods.

Caprolactum prices bounced back that week on moderate demand and reduced supply resulting from operating rate cuts. However, benzene cost eased sharply as prices fell across regions.

Demand for caprolactum rose slightly as run rates at polymerization units were maintained above 70% amid poor inventory level.

In China, semi-dull FDY70D/24F prices slipped US cents 7 a kg in the third week of May while FDY40D fell US cents 9 a kg.

Nylon DTY 70D/24F prices rolled over on the week while 30D/10F prices were down US cents 9 a kg.

Monofilament 30D prices were unchanged while 1.5D staple fiber fell US cents 9 a kg.

Nylon filament yarn prices moderated further as markets were mired in weakness on the back of dismal performance in nylon chip and caprolactum markets. However, monofilament and cord fabric prices remained unchanged.

In China, liquid spot was stable while solid goods offer fell US$35 a ton in the third week of May. Asian markers, the SE and FE markers were flat on the week.

Sinopec retained its May contract nomination for liquid goods while Fibrant announced nomination for May at 11,200 Yuan a ton.

Caprolactum markets in Asia were mired in weakness that week on soft demand while cost support eased with falling benzene values.

Demand was also to pick since the run rates at downstream yarn makers were down with inventory worth 28‐30 days.

In the last week, ended on 20th May 2016, benzene prices fell in Asian markets amid thin discussions while supply tightness persisted in SE Asia for June and arbitrage from S Korea to China remained open. However, the prices drop varied sharply across Asian markets, with lowest drop seen in India and highest in Southeast. In US, spot benzene moved higher on bullish views on supply while European benzene market ended quietly with spot price retreating slightly.

Monofilament 30D prices were unchanged on the week while 1.5D staple fiber fell US cents 7 a kg on the upper end.

Caprolactum price tumbles in China

In China, liquid spot was down US$30 a ton in the second week of May while solid goods offers fell US$95 a ton.

Asian markers, the SE and FE markers fell US$20 a ton on the week.

Sinopec retained its May contract nomination at US$1,625 a ton for liquid goods while Fibrant settled April at US$1,680 a ton, down US$15 from nomination for liquid goods.

Nylon DTY 70D/24F prices were flat during the week while 30D/10F prices were down US cents 1-2 a kg due to weak Yuan.

Monofilament 30D prices were down US cents 3 a kg while 1.5D staple fiber were down US cents 2 a kg.

Nylon filament yarn prices were stable‐to‐soft amid operating losses that week. As yarn makers operated at high level, production was under pressure from rigid demand.

Caprolactum prices declined that week on soft demand and nominations were revised down, implying weak market conditions. In China, liquid goods offers were quoted down while discussions remained tepid. Mainstream prices for solid goods also declined sharply on the week.
