Caprolactum price climbs on moderate demand and tight supply

Asian markers, the SE and FE were up US$10 a ton in the first week of July. In China, offers for liquid spot were up US$20 a ton while solid goods offers rose US$5 a ton.

Caprolactum prices edged up that week on moderate demand amid tight supply and on back of recovering raw materials market. Spot offers for liquid and solid goods were hiked in China while contract nominations for July were raised by major producers.

Nylon price rolls over in Asia

In China, semi-dull FDY70D/24F prices rolled over in the last week of June while FDY40D were flat on the week. Nylon DTY 70D/24F prices remained unchanged while 30D/10F were stable during the week. Nylon staple fiber 1.5D prices were steady while monofilament 30D prices were flat on the week.

Nylon filament yarn prices rolled over on the back of firm nylon chip and caprolactum cost, with low‐end prices goods less available. With cautious operation intentions and weak buying interest, sales and production were still under pressure amid off-season.

Caprolactum price firms up amid range-bound raw material cost

Asian markers, the SE and FE remained flat in the last week of June. In China, offers for liquid spot rolled over while solid goods offers were up US$30 a ton on the week.

Sinopec further raised its June nomination which was up US$15 a ton from last week for liquid goods.

Caprolactam prices stayed firm that week on the back of range‐bound raw materials benzene cost while demand was still weak. Run rates of polymerization units were down and inventory level was down to 7 days’ worth.

Nylon DTY 70D/24F prices were unchanged while 30D/10F were stable during the week. Nylon staple fiber 1.5D prices rolled over while monofilament 30D prices were steady on the week.

Nylon filament yarn prices rolled over on the back of flat nylon chip and caprolactum cost, with low‐end goods still available. Producers attempting to hike prices met with resistance.

Caprolactum markets were mixed that week as prices firmed in China on the back of range‐bound raw material, while they were subdued in other markets due to weak demand. Both, Sinopec and Fibrant raised their nominations for June, pushed by existing losses.

Nylon staple fiber 1.5D fell during the week while monofilament 30D prices were down US cents 4 a kg on the week.

Nylon filament yarn prices moderated to a lesser extent with most goods firm in view of stable nylon chip. Otherwise, prices hike met with some resistance.

With low operating intentions against weak buying interest, the supply demand fundamentals were under pressure.

Caprolactum prices firm on decent downstream demand

Asian markers, the SE and FE remained unchanged in the second week of June. In China, offers for liquid spot were flat on the week while solid goods offers were steady.

Sinopec maintained its June nomination at US$1,540 a ton for liquid goods while Fibrant nominated June at US$1,550 a ton for liquid goods.

Caprolactum prices were firm on range-bound feedstock benzene cost and decent downstream demand. On the back of better crude oil and benzene, caprolactum markets warmed up slightly on production cutbacks in China.

Monofilament 30D prices edged down US cents 4 a kg while 1.5D staple fiber also fell US cents 4 a kg during the week.

Nylon filament yarn prices were stable‐to‐soft on the back of firm nylon chip and caprolactum cost. With low operating intentions against weak buying interest, sales and production were under pressure.
