HGH India 2018, India`s largest trade-show for home textiles, home décor, houseware and gifts – designed exclusively for the professional and trade visitors – presented the latest trends forcasted by it in home fashion and lifestyle at a press conference in Mumbai. Conceptualized and implemented by the internationally renowned design office Sahm + Permantier, the trend, under the title ‘Transition’,reflect the influence of social, lifestyle and technological changes in the Indian home products market in 2018 – 19.

NCTO president and CEO Auggie Tantillo quoted that, “NCTO is pleased that some textile products are on the second list. It would have a greater deterring effect, however, if more textile and apparel end products were included. As such, NCTO looks forward to working closely with the Trump administration to refine it.”

He represented a group of textiles-related organizations last month certfying in favor of adding textiles to the original tariffs lineup. The new list of products being eyed for tariffs must also pass through a public comment period.

“For our belief in the online model in India, we are investing in a warehouse in Mumbai that should be ready by 2018 end and would help us get closer to our customers,” said Janne Einola. He also said India has been a strong supplier for home textiles, linen, lingerie, accessories and wovens. He added that, “We are assessing how we may source garments, of course, we need to look at the country’s knowledge (in that domain).” He said that H&M has committed an investment of Rs 720 crore in the Indian market.

The approved investments will be in the form of equipment that will affect all of the processes — polycondensation, spinning and textile processing — at the Guben site where Trevira produces filament specialties for the textile industry. A total sum of approx. 7.5 million euros is scheduled to be invested. These investments will generate additional quantitative growth and optimize processes and procedures at Trevira’s site in Guben where flat and texturized filament yarns are produced for automotive interiors, technical textiles, apparel, and home textiles.
