The four-day mega expo on textile machinery Dhaka International Textile and Garment Machinery Exhibition (DTG) 2017 is set to kick off at Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) in the city on Thursday.

Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA) President Tapan Chowdhury addressing a press conference on the upcoming DTG -2017 in the city on Sunday said that the government is going to establish a LNG terminal in Kutubdia Island to supply imported gas to the industry people as the country fears of finishing its natural gas stock in near future.

Ms. Smriti Zubin Irani, Minister of Textiles, Government of India, yesterday underlined the need to address the issue of lack of manpower in the technical textiles for which industry needed to first define the requisite skills. After defining the skills, the task would be to bridge the gap in which the industry would be supported adequately by the Government of India.

The Make in India Business Forum focused on the investment opportunities available in India for Chinese entrepreneurs was organized by the Indian Consulate of Shanghai yesterday at Gaoyou a country level industrial hub to attract investments where about 100 Chinese firms took part.

Local companies from Gaoyou from sectors like textile, garment, textile machinery, photovoltaic cells, electrical appliances, renewable energy, real estate and construction participated at the seminar.

The Telangana state government seeks support of the Centre in set up Japan Industrial Township at Medak in the proposed National Industrial Corridor Development Authority (NICDA) which will immensely increase the investment competitiveness and attract more investors from the Asia Pacific region.

The setting up of NICDA between Central government and Japan is in the offing, which will be finalized in October, mostly before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s proposed tour to Japan in October or November.
