The Disney family’s investment company via Shamrock Holdings Inc., acquires stake and joins board of RevoLaze, a laser technology company. RevoLaze adds a worn or patterned look to denim textiles without the environmental and social hazards of sand blasting.

RevoLaze uses digital software and ‘high speed, high power’ laser scribing technology to add a worn or patterned look to denim, and can be used on continuous fabrics. The process uses 2500 watts of power with laser scan speeds exceeding 50 metres per second. Speed helps improve production, reduces unit costs and improves profit.

The Indian cotton yarn industry feeling the pressure as China has reduced its cotton yarn import after the announcement of China’s new cotton policy. India has witnessed drop by 25 percent in the month of April which is the effect of Chinese policy. Prior to the announcement of China’s policy, India export nearly 50 percent of yarn into China.

Last year the average exports was around 120 million kg which is mainly due to demand from China. But this April yarn exports has plunged to 90 million kg.

Indonesian textile exports expected to speedy raise this year

Indonesian textile exports has reached $697.5 million in the first two months of this year as per the Trade Ministry statistics and is expected to speedy increase during this year with exports order flowing in from United States and larger orders will also be coming from the EU with the start of trade talks between the EU and Indonesia.

Indonesia and 28 EU members have planned to take up again talks on a thorough economic partnership agreement after several delays due to various purposes. The deal is expected to triple Indonesia’s textile exports within five years.
