H&M planning to boost profits this FY

The apparel retailer said that the composition of inventory has improved, implying it will become easier to sell the garments.

Hennes & Mauritz AB surged after the struggling Swedish clothing retailer showed progress coping with a buildup of unsold garments, raising hopes that the worst may be over after a three-year slump in earnings.

Inventory dropped slightly as a proportion of sales, easing to 18.2% at the end of May from a record 18.9% as of last August, H&M said Thursday. CEO Karl-Johan Persson said H&M still aims to boost operating profit this year.

Cotton prices settled higher on Monday as the United States and Mexico, a major importer of US supplies, averted a trade dispute, while investors remained cautious ahead of a crucial monthly crop supply and demand report. Cotton contracts for July settled up 0.4 cent, or 0.61%, at 65.99 cents per lb. It traded within a range of 64.85 and 66.5 cents a lb. The front month contract snapped four straight sessions of losses, after shedding almost 3.7% last week.

Melt blowing is a technique used for the manufacture of thin sheets of nonwoven fibers. It is a method by which polymer melt is extruded out through tiny nozzles and subjected to high-speed blowing gas. Due to presence of gas, the extruded polymer forms a nonwoven polymer sheet. Different polymers are used as raw materials in the process of melt blowing. The process starts with a polymer resin and ends with a finished, self-bonded fabric with superior properties.

Pemex`s ethylene production fell 3 percent in August 2016

In Mexico, ethylene output totaled 68513 metric tons in August, a drop of 3% as compared to July.

Output decline 15% as compared with last year August 2015, when the company's ethylene output totaled 80,842, it said.

Pemex uses the majority of its monomer output for the production of downstream derivatives, including polyethylene grades.

Pemex's propylene output totaled 1,093 mt in August, up 3% from July numbers, it said. The company's output fell 5.5% compared with August 2015, when production totaled 1,157 mt.

Bulk consumption of US textile exports seen in Mexico and Canada

In recent years, the US textile and clothing exports have been growing at a steady pace. A big leap in US textile exports was seen from January to April 2014, during this period they exported textile and apparel worth US$7.857B, growth rate of 2.64 percent year-on-year. Mexico and Canada were to two countries who consumed bulk of textile and apparel exports made by the US.
