Kazakhstan working towards uplifting its garment industry

The Kyrgyz textile and garment industry was originally developed in the 1930’ as a result of the availability of raw material mainly cotton and wool, in South Kyrgyzstan. Kyrgyzstan’s garment industry has traditionally been of major importance to the country, with nearly 7% of the nation’s working-age population employed in the sector. It continues to do well by providing economic growth and jobs.

The Zambia China Mulungushi Textile Joint Venture Limited (ZCMT-JV) complex in Kabwe after lying idle for seven years is expected to begin operations in the next three months and is anticipated to create over 2,000 jobs mainly for the local people.
 

Chinese firm JV with local firm to modify paper factory into garment factory in Bago

Sumec Textile & Light Co Ltd, the Chinese firm in cooperation with local firm Lat War to take the former Yaene paper factory on rental basis to set up a garment factory which will give jobs to thousands of people in Bago region.
 
The paper factory will be taken on rent from the Ministry of Industry in Yedashe Township, Bago, Dr Khin Maung Aye, the managing director of Lat War Garment Company. This project will involve a total investment of around US$20 million (Ks 19.46 billion).
