Under the Sri Lankan, East Development program the construction work of Garment factory at Sammanthurai is nearing completion. This garment factory is the second one in the Eastern Province open after forming the good governance.

With the opening of this garment factory, there is a possibility of getting employment for a good number of youngsters from Ampara district, sources said.

The Vietnam National Textile and Garment Group (Vinatex) has started construction of a textile and garment factory complex in the central province of Quang Nam. The project includes a fibre factory with a capacity to produce 4,600 tons of products annually, a textile and dyeing factory with annual capacity of 5,000 tons and a garment factory with 20 knitwear production lines with capacity to manufacture 20 to 25 million pieces per year.

Vietnam IZs remain unattractive to foreign investors even with big investment incentives

Some IZs in HCM City located far from arterial traffic routes finding it hard to call for investments. According to latest report by Cushman & Wakefield, a real estate service provider, there are 18 operational IZs in HCM City, covering a total area of 3,625 hectares, 62 percent of which, or 2,260 hectares, is leasable.

According to an Asian investor instead of setting up a factory in Binh Thuan province decided to go to an IZ in Binh Phuoc province which gave very competitive offers.

Sumec Textile & Light Co Ltd, the Chinese firm in cooperation with local firm Lat War to take the former Yaene paper factory on rental basis to set up a garment factory which will give jobs to thousands of people in Bago region.
 
The paper factory will be taken on rent from the Ministry of Industry in Yedashe Township, Bago, Dr Khin Maung Aye, the managing director of Lat War Garment Company. This project will involve a total investment of around US$20 million (Ks 19.46 billion).
