The third annual Apparel Textile Sourcing Canada (ATSC) show opened in Toronto Monday with great fanfare and record attendance.Nearly 1,500 visitors on day one alone came to experience the vastly-expanded apparel and textile show, which features twice the amount of exhibits as last year and dozens of newly-introduced categories. Vietnam's local garment industry that depends on imported material from abroad, especially from China which accounts for 50 percent of the material for the industry’s production. Also most of the machines, chemicals and textile dyes that Vietnam's garment industry uses need to be imported. That means the supply chain remains the weak point in Vietnam's garment sector for which it has taken a small step to join the processing stages of cutting and sewing in the global supply chain, said Vu Duc Giang, chairman of the Viet Nam Textile and Apparel Association (Vitas).

Vietnam Textile Summit 2015 was held in Hanoi, Vietnam, from June 25th -27th bringing together Vietnamese textile associations, textile enterprises, large-scale suppliers and buyers from all over the world to discuss global market trends. The chairman of Vietnam Cotton and Spinning Association (VCOSA) Nguyen Van Tuan at a conference in Ha Noi on Thursday announced that the apparel production scale in Asia will expand 2.4 percent by 2030, accounting for over 60 percent of global outputs.
