Bangladesh to host its first ever Fashionology Summit in February 2018 organized by Bangladesh Apparel Exchange (BAE) with an aim to attract a wide spectrum of the fashion, technology and innovation stakeholders across the entire ecosystem. The event will help to bridge the gap between the present and the future of the textile and fashion industry.

The 41st edition of Texworld which will begin from September 18 in France, around 26 Bangladeshi local fabric and garment makers of which 19 participants under the banner of the state-owned Export Promotion Bureau will be participating at the Paris textile fair.

Organisers claimed that this edition would be the largest where visitors are expected to come from all over Europe with a large number of buyers from the UK, France, Turkey, Spain, Italy and Germany.

As major markets like the US are showing positive signs, apparel exports of Bangladesh have been on the rise, but they need to grow by 10 percent every month in order to achieve their target of $27 billion in the current fiscal year, said Shahidullah Azim, vice-president of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association, the garment makers' platform.

Garment exports to non-traditional markets have growth by 7 percent year-on-year in the July-March period.
