Pak textile industry urge removal of cotton import restrictions

The Pakistani textile industry is badly in need of contamination-free fine and medium staple cotton to produce goods to meet the export requirement of quality textile products by the international buyers. Hence, APTMA Chairman Aamir Fayyaz urged federal government to immediately withdraw restrictions on import of cotton to let the industry meet the export.

He stressed that the government should immediately announce withdrawal of 4 percent Customs duty and 5 percent Sales tax as per the announcement made by the prime minister vide an initiative of export led growth package.

PERU MODA and PERU GIFT SHOW 2017 the two-day event was a great success; generating US$ 108 million, as a result of more than 3,350 meetings with 250 Peruvian exporters and more than 800 international buyers attending the event.

The Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Eduardo Ferreyros Küppers, pointed out that most of the buyers came from the U.S (28%), followed by Brazil (14%), Chile (6%), Argentian (4%) and Mexico (3%).

At the cotton market on Tuesday in the process of tight supply of fine quality, dealers said that prices showed modest improvement. Market sources said that the ginners, who have limited stock of unsold quality lint raised prices, so a few needy mills and spinners indulged in fresh buying to meet requirements

The official spot rate gained Rs 50 Rs 5,600 while in ready session, approximately 3000 bales of cotton changed hands between Rs 5300 and Rs 5900, dealers said.
