Pakistan textile industry has been advised to focus on value addition to compete in the international market as lack of value addition is one of the major reason behind the decline in exports, said Commerce Secretary Younis Dagha on Wednesday while addressing an event hosted by Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers and Exporters Association.

According to Dagha, cost of doing business is higher in Pakistan compared to neighbouring countries, but it is not the only hurdle in exports as they have not played their role in value addition… industrial production remains lower.

The Central government sanctions Rs. 200 crores to revive the Tirupur dyeing industry which has been in bad shape ever since the court ordered to closure of all dyeing units in concern of the environment issue due to which the Tirupur Dyeing industry made huge investments in the first ever ZLD projects putting them in a severe financial crisis and is on the verge of closure.

The Vietnam National Textile and Garment Group (Vinatex) has started construction of a textile and garment factory complex in the central province of Quang Nam. The project includes a fibre factory with a capacity to produce 4,600 tons of products annually, a textile and dyeing factory with annual capacity of 5,000 tons and a garment factory with 20 knitwear production lines with capacity to manufacture 20 to 25 million pieces per year.
