Israel and Egypt, the two countries marked 10years of the U.S. Qualifying Economic Zone framework with a joint booth at the Magic apparel trade fair, in Las Vegas, the world’s biggest event in the international fashion industry, this week. The two countries to strengthen the relations on Wednesday has agreed to double duty-free textile exports to the United States to $2 billion within three years, said Gabi Bar, head of the Middle East desk at the Economy Ministry.

Egypt's economic ministers takes a move to encourage domestic industries to purchase Egyptian cotton as well as support local farmers by giving approval to raise the subsidy for spinning companies (Private and state-run) to purchase abundant Egyptian cotton to become LE350 per quintal instead of LE200 ahead of harvest season in September. This was announced the ministry of, industry, trade and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in a statement on Tuesday.

Surat, country's biggest man-made fibre hub for the first time due to continued political and civil crisis along with unresolved trade issues between India and Pakistan is seeing a major impact on their man made fabric (MMF) textiles exports, including fabrics to Pakistan has taken a hit and declined by 16 percent.
 
Exports to Egypt, too, have declined by more than 23 per cent due to the political crisis there. As compared to $219 million worth of export in 2012-13, India exported $167 million worth of MMF textiles in 2013-14 to Egypt.

Egypt plans to increase its cotton growth over coming year

The Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation of Egypt has announced that this year it is planning to allocate 367,566 feddans for cotton cultivation. The cotton-cultivated area last agricultural season was 367,566 feddans; however, the cotton was grown in only 250,000 of 350,000 feddans projected.

In a statement, the ministry said that the projected area was announced in an official report issued by the General Administration for Pest Control. The report was then proposed to the Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Farid Abo Hadid.
