But during the Q2 of financial year due to several factors including stiff competition in certain products, low capacity utilization, high inflation, high interest rates and weakened rupee has impacted in some way or the other on be it textiles, polyester yarn, fabrics or apparel players.

Arvind, apparel and textile firm plans to increase its borrowing limit

Arvind Ltd, an Ahmedabad based apparel and textiles company would be seeking shareholders’ consent to increase its borrowing limit to fund expansion activities as well as for future business requirements. The company’s current borrowing limit is Rs 3,000 which it is considering to increase to Rs 5,000 crore.
 
The company will be putting up a special resolution at the forthcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the members of the company to be held on July 30, 2014.
 

Japanese retailer Uniqlo keen on entering India market to source garments

Fast Retailing Group, a Japanese retailer that runs UNIQLO chain of casual clothing is keen to enter the Indian market aiming to source garments from India. The Japanese fashion retailer has been linked with Arvind to for its entry in India. The company Chairman Tadashi Yanai met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Textiles Minister Santosh Kumar Gangwar expressing intention to source garments from India.

NID plans to set up innovation centre for natural fibre at its Ahmedabad campus

The National Institute of Design (NID) is set to traverse the path of innovation in research and design. NID has set up an 'Innovation Centre for Natural Fibre' at its Gandhinagar campus for this.
