Azerbaijan cotton production faces pressure

Cotton or white gold once a very productive industry in Azerbaijan is now suffering slow down. Over the past 18 years, production has dipped six fold in the country. Moreover, the amount of land allocated to growing cotton has fallen nine fold.

This year in Azerbaijan, more than 14,000 tons of cotton were collected in January-September while last year, the country produced 41,000 tons of cotton. However, fifteen years ago, cotton production was at 91,500 tons.

Pakistan trade policy despite tumbling exports delayed

Pakistan's exports are continuously tumbling from last some months due to the lower global commodity prices, weakening external demand, ongoing power shortages, and security and business climate related challenges. Despite all this, the government is yet to announce the strategic trade policy framework to boost the country’s exports.

Pakistan’s exports had come down by 13.42 percent to $6.9 billion during first four months (July-October) of the ongoing financial year 2015-2016 from $8 billion of the corresponding month of the previous year, Pakistan Bureau of Statistics data showed.

NGT lifts ban on operation of textile units in Rajasthan

Southern India Mills Association (SIMA) expressed a big relief over the National Green Tribunal’s order on lifting the ban on the operation of textile units in Rajasthan.

In May, the NGT bench of Jodhpur had ordered the closure of 739 textile units in Balotra and its surrounding areas of Jasol, Bithuja in Rajasthan, for non-adherence to norms laid down by Pollution Control Board.

Nylon yarn price rolls over despite falling input cost

In China, semi-dull FDY70D/24F prices were unchanged in the last week of October while FDY40D were stable.

Nylon DTY 70D/24F prices rolled over at US$2.68-2.88 a kg and DTY 30D/10F were at US$3.46-3.62 a kg.

Monofilament 30D was flat at US$2.75-2.91 a kg and 1.5D staple fiber were at US$2.44-2.52 a kg.

Despite weak caprolactum and nylon chips pricing, nylon filament yarn prices remained range bound, excepting for POYs.

Moreover, non-textile yarn prices varied, with cord fabric edging down and staple fiber inching up.

Caprolactum price declines on weak demand

In China, liquid good offers were down US$110 a ton while solid goods fell US$90 a ton in the last week of October.

Asian markers, the SE and FE were down US$10 a ton while trading values for East European goods also fell to US$1,350-1,370 a ton.

Caprolactum markets took weak signs with new capacity starting up, and prices went southbound on soft demand.

However, November contract nomination from Sinopec for high-end goods was hiked from October settlement.

Spot offers for liquid caprolactum fell from last week while discussions in Shandong softening.
