Blended yarns export value dips 5.8pc after recent rise

India’s blended spun yarns export was worth US$30.3 million in May 2016, down 5.8 per cent YoY while volumes were at 10.5 million kg. During April 2016, blended spun yarns export value was up 11.2 per cent YoY while volumes rose 19.5 per cent as compared to the same month last year.

5.3 million kg of PC yarns was exported from India during May. Polyester cottons yarns were exported to 47 countries in May 2016, of which, Bangladesh and Honduras were the largest importers of PC yarn from India in May followed by Colombia.

India’s blended spun yarns export value was up 11.2 per cent YoY while volumes rose 19.5 per cent as compared to the same month last year.

5.9 million kg of PC yarns was exported from India during the month. Polyester cottons yarns were exported to 53 countries in April 2016, of which, Bangladesh and Egypt were the largest importers of PC yarn from India followed by Colombia.

Turkey, Honduras, Spain, Brazil and South Africa were the fastest growing markets for PC yarns while South Korea significantly reduced its import of PC yarns from India.

India’s blended spun yarns export value was up 4.8 per cent YoY in March 2016 while volumes rose 10.6 per cent as compared to the same month last year.

Polyester cottons yarns were exported to 51 countries in March, of which, Egypt and Bangladesh were the largest importers of PC yarn from India followed by Morocco. 6.7 million kg of total PC yarns was exported from India during the month.

Honduras, Spain, Sri Lanka and Germany were the fastest growing markets for PC yarns while Peru significantly reduced its import of PC yarns from India.

India’s blended spun yarns export value was up 4.9 per cent YoY in February 2016 while volumes rose 9.7 per cent as compared to the same month last year.

6.4 million kg of PC yarns was exported from India during the month. Polyester cottons yarns were exported to 57 countries in February 2016, of which, Bangladesh and Egypt were the largest importers of PC yarn from India followed by Morocco.

Argentina, Pakistan, Indonesia and Poland were the fastest growing markets for PC yarns while Chile significantly reduced its import of PC yarns from India.

Spun yarn exports from India were up 2 per cent in volume terms but down 8 per cent in value terms in January 2016. The marginal increase in volume reflect the weakening global demand while the decline in value is explained by falling FOB price and depreciating the INR. Total yarn shipments were at 103 million kg worth US$278.3 million or INR1,856 crore, implying per unit realisation of US$2.70 per kg, down US cents 30 from a year ago.

India’s blended spun yarns export was worth US$38.9 million in December 2015, down 6 per cent YoY while volumes were up 1.7 per cent to 14.2 million kg.

Polyester cottons yarns were exported to 49 countries in December 2015 aggregating US$18.9 million with a unit price realization averaging US$2.52 a kg, down US cents 15 as compared to December 2014. Export volumes surged by 5 per cent to 7.5 million kg, of which, 15.6 per cent was shipped by Egypt alone.

As cotton textile exports have declined 7.39% in August 2015 as compared to the corresponding month last year, Indian textile exporters have urged the government to facilitate free trade agreements (FTAs) with major importing countries including the European Union, Australia and Canada to remove trade barriers.

Blended spun yarns export aggregated US$36.3 million in July, up 12 per cent YoY while volumes gained 20 per cent at 12 million kg. During the month, 6.7 million kg of PC yarns worth US$19 million and 3.5 million kg of PV yarns valued at US$9.8 million were exported.

Cotton/viscose yarn demand has been on the rise since cotton prices have started moderating while viscose gave the lustre. In July, 0.7 million kg of yarns were exported worth US$2.7 million as against 0.3 million and US$1.69 million in the same month last year.

Cotton yarn export rises this June

In June 2015, India exported cotton yarn to 72 countries with volumes at 92 million kg which was worth US$275 million (INR1,740 crore). The average unit price realization was at US$2.98 a kg, down US cent 1 from previous month and US cents 54 down from the same month a year ago. The largest importer of cotton yarn from India was China, followed way behind by Bangladesh and Egypt. The top three together accounted for more than 60 per cent of cotton yarn with combined volume at 60 million kg worth US$170 million.

Spun yarn export growth falls in February, China imports lesser

Spun yarn exports were unable to maintain its strength seen in January as they grew just 3.7 per cent in February as against 21 per cent clocked in the previous month. About 117 million kg of spun yarns were exported worth US$390 million or Rs 2,425 crore during February. In terms of growth, volumes were up 7.4 per cent while US$ value increased 3.7 per cent implying a fall in unit price realization, as the Rupee depreciated 16 per cent against the US$ in the comparable months.
