Now The Wolfsonian—FIU is expanding its global scope with Made in Italy: MITA Textile Design 1926–1976, its first-ever major collaborative exhibition with its kindred museum. It was also organized in cooperation with the Consulate General of Italy in Miami.

Silvia Barisione from The Wolfsonian and Matteo Fochessati and Gianni Franzone from The Wolfsoniana curated the exhibition, which borrowed many of its items from the Italian museum’s collection.

FRACTURES attempt to showcase India's rainbow diversity of handcrafted textiles. In an age when much of textile design has become mechanized, it will look to prove that weaves done by hand have a personality, an intimacy and a soul that machines will never be able to replicate.

Zambian handloom weaver received training at the Indian Institute of Handloom Technology (IIHT) in Salem on textile design, block printing, use of sophisticated handlooms and quality management. During the training period of two month they also visited several handloom cluster sites in Tamil Nadu. The programme, which was facilitated by the International Trade Centre (ITC), was backed by the Indian government's Ministry of Textiles as well as the IIHT.

The third-year students of textile design from National Institute of Fashion Technology, Gandhinagar (Nift), as a part of their education, have travelled to various parts of Gujarat to research on the age-old crafts of the state, like Ashavali weave, zari, zardozi and tie and dye.
