Egypt plans to set up the biggest city for textiles and clothing on a land space of 3.1 million cubic meters in Al-Sadat city. Egypt’s Minister of Industry and Foreign Trade Tarek Kabil in the presence of President AbdelFatah al-Sisi during his visit to Al-Sadat city announced the start of the building procedures of the city.

President Sisi announced that the government is ready to execute 50 percent of this project to speed up its implementation in a period of 18 months instead of seven years.

Egyptian Minister of Trade and Industry Tarek Kabil during the meeting with the board of directors of the Egyptian Chamber of Textile Industries (ECTI) in the Federation of Egyptian Industries (FEI) said the the ministry is currently preparing a national strategy for the textiles, spinning, and ready-made clothing industry. As textile exports has achieved a significant increase of about 12%, while imports declined by 59% this year compared to the same period last year.

Indian Classic Fashion working in the ready-made clothes sector, is considering to produce garments with a capital investment of EGP 1bn in the Egyptian market. The plan is to start working on the project in January 2018 and start actual production by the end of 2018, according to Tarek Kabil, the Minister of Industry and Trade.

This came during Kabil’s meeting with a delegation from Jordan, headed by Sanal Kumar, the chairperson of the company. During the meeting, the projects of the company’s activity in Jordan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) were demonstrated.

The Egypt Government’s policy of developing 10 industrial areas allotted to textile and clothing manufacture gets an impetus by the announcement made by the minister of Trade and Industry, Tarek Kabil.

According to the announcement,the Ministry of Trade and Industry will provide 1m sqm of land for textile and clothing industries in Badr City in December as part of the government’s plan.The development of the industrial areas will take place within a time period of 5 years.
