Zilingo to invest 100 million dollars in US

Global fashion platform Zilingo announced plans to set aside US$100 million to build out its fashion supply chain business amid its ongoing expansion in the US.

Zilingo launched its operations in the US in the summer of this year, with offices in New York and Los Angeles. It said this is part of its accelerated growth plans in new markets such as those in Australia, Europe, and the Middle East.

Evonik Industries AG has broken ground on a 400 million euro ($442.1 million) production plant for nylon 12 at its manufacturing site in Marl, Germany.

The new unit, which represents Evonik’s biggest single investment in Germany to date, will expand the company’s nylon 12 production capacity by more than 50 percent, Evonik officials said in a Sept. 17 news release which did not provide specific capacity details.

Thailand-based omni-channel fashion brand Pomelo plans major expansion in Asia, opening up to 150 branches by 2023 from the eight branches at present, to count at least 50 million customers in the region, the company's co-founder and chief executive officer David Jou said.

Currently, the company has some 2 million customers in Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippine, Hong Kong, Australia, the US, and Europe.

The business expansion will focus on Asian countries like Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, and Hong Kong, he said.

According to the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the US market has absorbed about 23.11 percent of non-knit textile products, worth US$5.240 million, exported by Bali province in July.

Royal Dutch Shell to restart ethylene cracker in Singapore

After unplanned shutdown, Singapore based Royal Dutch Shell is planning to restart its ethylene cracker at Pulau Bukom in the next few weeks.

The cracker is currently shut down for unplanned maintenance to repair a compressor.

As a result of the shutdown, Shell on September 29 declared force majeure on its ability to supply base chemicals to customers.

Based on current assessments, we expect to restart the plant in the next few weeks.

The cracker, which produces more than 900 Mtpy of ethylene, is located at the same site as its 500 Mbpd refinery.
