Asian PTA prices regained US$12 a ton CFR China in the fourth week of October.

In China, suppliers kept offers at US$620-640 a ton, and buyers pegged counter offers at US$590-600 a ton.

Yisheng Petrochemical issued daily cash-based price for PTA up US$10 to US$640 a ton, with no enquiries for arrived or to-arrive-at-port cargoes for the moment.

Hengli Petrochemical issued self-lifting offer for bonded cargoes on one-day trip at Chinese main ports at US$630 a ton.

Asian MEG prices inched up US$4 a ton CFR China in the fourth week of October.

In China, nearby-month cargoes were quoted at US$655-660 a ton, and counter offers were at US$650 a ton, with discussions at around US$655 a ton.

Mono ethylene glycol prices were up in Asian markets reflecting the rise in PTA markets while November deliveries were offered flat from spots.

SABIC lowered its November Asian Contract Price nomination for MEG to US$840 a ton, down US$20 from October.

Some deals concluded at US$600-610 a ton, midweek.

Yisheng Petrochemical’s cash-based prices for this week were in the range of US$630-640 a ton, while Hengli Petrochem issued self-lifting offers in the range of US$640-645 a ton.

Asian purified terephthalic acid markets, which had firmed up after the National Day holiday in China, saw prices down in that week.

Mono ethylene glycol markets moved down during the week as trading atmosphere in polyester market calmed down notably compared with second week of October.

Sentiment was lackluster on the whole due to drop in demand and poor liquidity.

Under such influence, together with piling inventory and restart of some non-coal-based MEG units that were shut for maintenance, the downward pressure on the markets increased.

However, there are some unfavorable factors from crude oil market and market fundamental and players will be cautious.

While PSF and VSF prices rolled over, cotton prices have rebounded INR100-500 per candy during the week, although they were significantly lower than in September.

In India, 30s (65/35) PV yarn prices were up US cents 2 a kg, due to stronger INR, in Indore market. In Ludhiana, PC 30s (52/48) prices were also up US cent 1 a kg on the week.

In Qianqing, PC (65/35) 32s yarn prices remained unchanged on the week while 21s were steady.
