Polyester yarn price remains stable in Asian markets

In Shengze, offers for 32s polyester yarn were flat in the fourth week of November and 45s were up on the week. In Qiangqing, offers for 32s weaving were stable during the week. In US$ term, they were down US cents 1-2 on the week, due to weak Yuan.

Spun polyester yarn prices were stable in China though there were limited enquiries and sales. Producers held large inventories and faced low demand. Moreover, the environmental protection issue in Hebei had certain influence on texturing, printing and dyeing plants, which was unfavorable for downward buying of spun yarns.

PTA price moves up amid higher upstream prices

Asian PTA prices inched up US$3 a ton CFR China and CFR Southeast Asia in the fourth week of November. In China, PTA prices surged about US$5 a ton in the second half of that week.

Purified terephthalic acid markets were mixed amid higher upstream prices and sluggish demand. In India, polyester demand was been by government's demonetization policy, sparking drop in retail sales, impacting converters and the traders who supply them. In China, PTA market moved up in a notable range as futures market picked up with an increase on the position.

MEG prices rise to seven-month high in US

Asian MEG prices rose US$7 a ton CFR China and CFR South East Asia marker in the fourth week of November. In China, negotiations rose from in the initial period of the week, and retreated by the weekend.

Mono ethylene glycol prices rose opening the week on short covering by traders while January MEG futures remained volatile. In China, MEG market moved up initially, and then moved down as market sentiment turned lackluster and on rumors that polyester producers postponed the listing of MEG futures. In East China inventory was seen rising.

Polyester yarn price remains range-bound in Asian markets

In Shengze, offers for 32s and 45s polyester yarn were up in the third week of November. In Qiangqing, offers for 32s weaving were flat on the week. Falling Yuan did not impact pricing in US$ term.

Polyester yarn offers were stable across Asian markets. In China, in spite of large stock pressure polyester yarn were stable amid flat sales, as polyester market did not gain enough momentum to go up. Offers for spun polyester yarn in Shengze market were stable.

PTA price dips on weak futures in Asia

Asian PTA prices were down US$9 a ton CFR China and CFR Southeast Asia in the third week of November. In China, offers for nearby-month goods values were slightly down from last week.

Purified terephthalic acid prices weakened in Asian markets on tepid and weaker futures pushed Chinese prices lower. Trade activities were thin. In China, the previous week’s uptrend did not continue into that week. Domestic PTA market was affected by the huge changes on PTA futures, which returned to the same level as before market prices moved up.

MEG price declines after recent surge in Asia

Asian MEG prices declined US$17 a ton while CFR China and South East Asia in the third week of November. Mono ethylene glycol prices declined after a surge last week, as traders were heard to be taking profits early in the week, with both Yuan-denominated swaps and US$-denominated spot cargoes traded sharply lower.

On 17th November 2016, MEG futures saw an upper limit up at close, a trend similar to that in the previous week, stimulated by fundamental sentiment that strengthened expectation of an increase in interest rates in the US.

MEG prices shoot up on bullish futures amid active trading

Asian MEG prices surged US$44 a ton CFR China and CFR South East Asia in the second week of November. In China, trading values were up US$20-25 a ton on the week.

Mono ethylene glycol prices jumped in Asian markets on bullish futures amid active trading. Several futures and financial traders were heard buying Yuan-denominated swaps on the futures market to cover short positions for H2 November and taking long positions for H1 December.

In Europe, MEG markets were under pressure from bearish ethylene and ignoring the hike in November contract prices.

Blended yarn price declines in China

In Qianqing, PC (65/35) 32s yarn prices fell US cents 3 a kg in the second week of November while 45s PC combed yarn prices rolled over on the week. 32s PV (65/35) moderated US cents 2 a kg during the week.

Blended yarn prices rolled over in China but the decline of Renminbi has pegged export prices down but limited the drop of import prices in local currency terms. Nevertheless, imported yarn prices have fallen below domestic prices and imports were recovering.

Polyester yarn price moves up in India, declines in Pakistan

In Shengze, offers for 32s polyester yarn were unchanged in the first week of November and 45s were stable on the week. In Qiangqing, offers for 32s weaving fell during the week, however, the fall was neutralised by strong Yuan.

Spun polyester yarn prices were stable in China as sales slowed down. Reportedly, some fabric makers still held payments. There was limited demand for materials, and only some sporadic small orders for rigid demand were seen. Overall, polyester market was falling. Offers in Shengze were stable amid flat enquiring and selling activities.

PTA price falls amid weak upstream markets

Asian PTA markers retreated US$8 a ton CFR China in the first week of November while CFR Southeast Asia marker was down US$5 a ton. The CFR India marker was down US$6 a ton.

Purified terephthalic acid prices in Asian fell US$5-8 a ton on the week as upstream paraxylene markets remained under weak fluctuation that week with Indian Reliance starting up its new unit. Thus, PTA markets retreated after rushing high early that week.
