Indian textile exports likely to fail in achieving official target $45-bn this fiscal

India‘s overall textile and garment exports, which also include those of jute, coir and handicrafts, likely to increase by 4-5 percent reaching $41 billion this fiscal compared with $39.3 billion a year before mainly on higher shipments of garments and massive slowdown in Chinese demand for cotton and yarn. But, go amiss the official target of $45 billion, trade and industry sources said on Tuesday.

The demand for Indonesian goods is pretty high in Egypt, said Indonesian Ambassador to Egypt Nurfaizi Suwandi on the sidelines of the Cairo International Fair (CIF), the largest annual trade exhibition in Egypt and hence they are committed to continue increasing their exports to Egypt.

The primary Indonesian goods exported to Egypt included yarn, textile, handicrafts, crude palm oil (CPO), coffee, tea, paper, tires, electronic devices, and vehicle spare parts as per Indonesian embassy’s trade attaché in Cairo.

Bangladesh-Nepal Expo 2015 kicked off on Wednesday with the aim of providing a platform for the business communities of the two countries to foster business linkages. Minister for Commerce and Supply Sunil Bahadur Thapa inaugurating the expo said that it would strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.

This expo is an opportunities to enhance trade between the countries as they share many common cultures. The government is in the process of creating a new trade agreement to facilitate product and service trade in both the countries.

400 carpet importers from 57 countries to participate in the India carpet expo

The 28th Indian Carpet Expo organized to provide an opportunity for traders to directly deal with buyers has began today in Varanasi. Manufacturers from Varanasi, Bhadohi, Panipat, Mirzapur, Jaipur, Srinagar and Agra will exhibit wide range of hand-knitted, tufted carpets and floor coverings at the expo.

Around 400 carpet importers from 57 countries, including Australia, Brazil, China, Russia, Germany, Britain and US are expected to participate. Buyers from countries like Bulgaria, Malaysia, Israel, Mauritius, Thailand and other 14 countries would also attend the expo.

J&K working out strategy to set up Textile Park on HMT factory land

The Industries Department has been directed by the Jammu and Kashmir, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to work out the strategy of establishing proposed Textile Park at a portion of HMT Factory land as it has stopped its functioning for a long time now.
 
The industries department has been urged to pursue the matter on fast track so that action on setting up of a Textile Park for the local entrepreneurs is taken up as early as possible.
 

Thailand to develop OTOP textile trade to compete international

The Department of Industrial Promotion (DIP) and the Thailand Textile Institute would be working together to develop One Tambon (meaning sub-district) One Product (OTOP) textile and costume production in order to get ready for a larger number of international exports in the future. OTOP is a local entrepreneurship stimulus program which aims to support the unique locally made and marketed products of each Thai tambon all over Thailand.
