ASF price remains unchanged in Asian markets

ASF offers for Taiwan origin 3D bright ASF tow remained unchanged in the last week of January. In China, ASF prices rolled over for medium-length fiber and cotton-type staple during the week.

Acrylic staple fiber markets and prices were stable in Asian markets that week. In China, trading atmosphere was lackluster due to Lunar New Year holidays and offers for cotton-type staple fiber and medium-length staple fiber were pegged at a roll over. Markets sentiment is likely to pick up after the Spring Festival.
In India, offers remained unchanged on the week.

ASF price remains firm despite rising raw material cost

Acrylic staple fiber prices in Asian markets generally rolled over in the third week of January. Since Spring Festival was drawing closer, many downstream mills in China had left for holidays, leading to thinner demand. On the other hand, ASF producers mainly delivered goods or fulfilled previous orders.

ASF price moves down in India

In India, prices were revised down in the first week of January since acrylonitrile cost had subdued in December. Offers were revised down INR6 a kg (down US cents 9) on the week.

In China, medium-length fiber and cotton-type staple prices rolled over in the first week of January, however, were up US cents 2 a kg due to weak US$.

Propylene price climbs in Asia, Europe

Asian marker, FOB Korea was up 8.9% in December while it declined 8.4% YoY, and CFR China rose 9.7% from November while it fell 8.5% YoY.

Propylene prices in Asian markets rose in December as downstream PP makers strengthened while Chinese ports saw congestion.

In Europe, propylene markets were on bullish contract price expectation in January. In US, December propylene offers dropped on the month.

In Europe, CG propylene jumped 6.2% from November while it was down 24.8% YoY. Spot polymer-grade propylene prices in US were down 0.7% on the month.

Acrylonitrile price declines despite surging feedstock cost

Asian ACN prices declined US$70 a ton CFR Far East Asia in the second week of December while Southeast Asia fell US$75 a ton on the week. In China, offers for offshore cargoes were down US$70-80 a ton on the week.

Acrylonitrile prices caved in although feedstock propylene and crude oil values were up that week. Downstream demand was stable as acrylic fibre prices held stable, and suppliers ran at 75% capacity. ABS sentiment held firm on cost support, with domestic producers generally offering at stable rate. Acrylamide prices remained steady.

Propylene price moves up across all regions

Asian propylene markers jumped US$48-54 a ton CFR China and FOB Korea in the second week of December. Propylene prices continued to surge day on day throughout the week as downstream PP makers strengthened further while port congestion in China hated to ease. Asian markers gained 6% on the week having gained more than US$70 in just two weeks.

In US, December propylene discussions were ongoing expecting drop, with sellers and buyers still wide apart on the amount that monthly pricing should fall. Chemical grade propylene spot inched up US cents 1.50 per pound FD USG on the week.

ASF price remains stable in Asian markets

ASF prices steady in Asian markets

ASF offers for Taiwan origin 3D bright ASF tow were stable in the first week of December, while regular specs rolled over during the week. In China, prices for medium-length fiber and cotton-type staple were steady on the week.

Acrylic staple fibre prices were stable in Asian market despite cost support easing steady, while demand was hard to expand. Although demand weakened with the market cooling down, it remained steady overall. Supply decreased with the weekly average run rate down to 78% in China.

ASF price rolls over in Asian markets

In China, ASF prices rolled over in the last week of November. Acrylic staple fibre prices generally rolled over as market transaction remained stable. Currently, inventory level was low and supply in China may tighten somewhat given the maintenance plan of Shanghai Petrochemical next week. Downstream demand was still sound, so ASF market was still active.

Although run rate was seen at a high level, market fundamentals were still balanced with the help of favorable demand. Upstream ACN values were slightly firm.

ASF price rolls over despite weak raw material cost

In China, ASF prices rolled over but went down US$1 a kg due to weak currency in the fourth week of November. Acrylic staple fibre prices were generally stable during the week, despite some hikes in settlement prices.

Upstream acrylonitrile cost weakened, leading to relieved cost pressure. In China, ASF producers enjoyed better profit margins, amid sound liquidity. Downstream demand was sound, so ASF market was still active. Demand is expected to keep steady next week.

In Pakistan, ASF prices remained unchanged as market fundamentals were still balanced.
