2.5 million Autoconer winding units: Schlafhorst thanks the Indian textile industry for its contribution

The German textile machinery manufacturer Saurer Schlafhorst celebrated the sale of Autoconer winding unit number 2.5 million at INDIA ITME. The milestone winding unit will be delivered to the India-based textile company Kanchan India Ltd. in the first quarter of 2017. For Schlafhorst, INDIA ITME also proved a worthy occasion for holding a small reception to thank the Indian customers who have made such a significant contribution to this remarkable success.

Ms. Arti Bhagat, Director, Worldex India Exhibition & Promotion Pvt. The demonetization will affect Indian textile industry in India in terms of purchase of new yarns and fabric from cash payment and is also expected to reduce textile related export orders for a short duration.

Lorry strike troubles the textile business

The nation-wide strike by lorry owners, which started on Thursday, created problems for textile business as well. The textile product movement to and from the units faced hindrances because of the strike.

Few mills that had imported cotton found it difficult to transport it to the unit from the port due to the strike, said M. Senthilkumar, Chairman of Southern India Mills’ Association.

Likewise, exporters were unable to dispatch the products from their units. The Centre should intervene immediately, he said.

Indian textile companies foresee better business environment in coming quarter

Textile firms are looking forward to a major improvement in businesses in October to December 2014 quarter as prospects are brighter than preceding months and also being a festive season. The YarnsandFibers survey on Indian textile business confidence held in late September reveals that the Business Confidence Index (a measure of future prospect), for the quarter October to December stands at 76 as against the Current Business Status Index at 30.0 for the quarter July to September 2014. Index above 50 indicates business expansion while below 50 implies contraction of business.
