Turkish company Cotam Enterprises Ltd. inked an agreement with the Ministry of Textile Industry of Turkmenistan to set up of a new textile complex in the country. Construction work of the complex will kick off from the next month.

The upcoming textile complex is expected to be operational by March 2021. It will be set up in Turkmenistan’s Akhal Velayat (region) and will be equipped with modern textile manufacturing technologies.

The Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment envisaging development of Ready-Made Garment in Nigeria signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Tuesday with Clothing 360, part of KACK Group a major player in the readymade garment industry around the globe, to promote implementation of the policy on Cotton, Textile and Garment (CTG). Other areas of intervention include the promotion of the Made in Nigeria Initiative, which involves an e-commerce platform.

Government decides to revamp textile industry in Zambia

Government in Zambia says it is determined to revamp the Textile and Garment subsector because of its huge potential to spur economic diversification.

Commerce Minister Margaret Mwanakatwe said the sector also offers opportunities for technological innovation and adaption for the engineering sector in the production of handloom equipment.

She said that Government will continue to promote the implementation of policies and programmes that support the growth of the textile and garment sector in Zambia.

The Vietnam after it signs the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP), which includes member countries that make up 40 percent of the world’s trade to see the highest GDP growth rate changes among TPP members. Textile and garments worth N300 billion being annually imported into Nigeria without paying duties or taxes. This was revealed by Issa Aremu, the General-Secretary of the National Union of Textile, Garment and Tailoring Workers of Nigeria in llorin, the Kwara State Capital at the 26th National Education Conference of the Union. He is also the vice president of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).
