Texprocil urges govt to take the edge off the high cost of export finance

Texprocil, a government constituted body for export promotion of cotton textiles submits to Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in a pre-budget memorandum lists measures which can boost exports and provide employment to over two lakh people in India especially women.

The Cotton Textiles Export Promotion Council, (Texprocil) based on its study conducted on cotton yarn, revealed that India's cotton yarns exports are meeting their targets barring the seasonal fluctuations generally witnessed every April and in spite of high raw cotton prices.

India has exported 1082 million kgs of cotton yarn worth US $ 3.75 billion during the 10 month period from April 2013 to January 2014. It is expected that the full year figure likely to be at 1350 mn kgs valued at US $ 4.70 billion.

According to the study conducted by the Textiles Export Promotion Council, (Texprocil), cotton yarn exports from India are expected to meet their yearly targets in spite of the high raw cotton prices and seasonal fluctuations that are usually observed during April every year.

India ‘s cotton yarn to meet its exports target for 2013-14 in spite of seasonal flux usually seen every April and high raw cotton prices as per the Cotton Textiles Export Promotion Council (Texprocil’s) study. Cotton yarn exports are expected to be around 1,350 million kgs valued at $4.70 billion.

According to Texprocil statistics India’s cotton yarn exports in the first 10 months (April-January ) valued at $3.75 billion (around 1,082 million kgs). It is estimated that yarn exports for the entire 2013-14 would reach at $4.70 billion (around 1,350 million kgs).
