With e-commerce emerging as the next big revenue generator, textile companies are roping in neighbourhood tailors to give their fabric brands a boost through the digital medium. Booking the services of your local tailor online will soon get easier.

Aditya Birla Group’s textile brand Grasim plans to introduce a neighbourhood tailor programme to improve the skills of about 50 tailors across localities in Delhi and then list their services as a digital offering through the company’s Web site.

Raymond, textile company had witnessed a consolidated net loss of Rs. 32.85 crore in Q1 June 2014.Gautam Hari Singhania ,Chairman and Managing Director of Raymond’s, had promised that the company would work on its brand building ,retail network expansion ,capacity expansion and chiefly in its investment.

Raymond stores count as at 30 June 2014 stood at 954 across all formats, including 43 stores in the Middle East and SAARC region covering over 1.8 million square feet of retail space. The small-cap company has an equity capital of Rs 61.38 crore. Face value per share is Rs 10.

Raymond's net sales had risen 25.4% to Rs 1096.09 crore in Q1 June 2014 over Q1 June 2013. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) rose 48% to Rs 63 crore in Q1 June 2014 over Q1 June 2013. EBITDA margins rose to 6% in Q1 June 2014 from 5% in Q1 June 2013.

Raymond with Woolmark to launch complete all weather wool collection

Raymond in partnership with the Australia’s Woolmark Company announced the launch of the 20 garments line a complete all weather cool wool collection designed by Gaurav Gupta, which will be available in stores this month. The newly premium cool wool range has 100 percent wool fabric as well as blends with natural fibres such as silk, cotton and linen and can be used as trans-seasonal fibre in India which has tropical weather conditions.

Raymond Group is one of India's largest textile and apparels brand and one of the leading, integrated producers of suiting fabric in the world. Raymond's, which promotes its almost 90-year-old brand under the 'Complete Man' concept, already sells its products in the US, Europe and East Asian markets, but as a B2B partner is all to expand into these developed markets with its `Made to Measure (MTM)' stores.

The company is currently looking for partners to expand its overseas business network, with plans to invest around Rs200 crore.
