The Director of Handloom and Textile Department (H&T), Shailaja Ramaiyer chaired a meeting at the office of Joint Director of Handloom and Textile Department in Sircilla on Thursday with the owners of power loom units and Max Society members and stressed the need of modernisation of power loom units.

H&T department Additional Director Srinivas Reddy and IL&FS representative Chary, H&T Deputy Director Y Narayana and Joint Director Ashok Rao were present along with others.

Seven union ministers were roped in to hard sell India on the final day of “Textiles India-2017” event, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attract foreign investment in the Indian textile industry and to boost domestic players urging them to focus on creating jobs.

Union Ministers M. Venkaiah Naidu, Nitin Gadkari, Ananth Kumar, Nirmala Sitharaman, Radhamohan Singh, Mahesh Sharma and Rajiv Pratap Rudy took part in different sessions at Mahatma Mandir and urged the players to help and support Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Avision of “Make In India”.

J&K govt has devised Rs50 cr revival plan for modernization of silk and wool mills

Silk and wool manufacture are the oldest industry of Jammu and Kashmir government, in a bid to restore the past glory of the traditional silk factory and wool mills in Jammu and Kashmir, government has devised a Rs 50 crore revival plan for modernisation of a silk factory and a woolen mill here.

The meeting, chaired by Minister of State for Industries and Commerce, Sajjad Ahmad Kichloo, was informed that over Rs 50 crore revival plan has been put together for modernisation and upgrading of the government Silk Factory Rajbagh and Woolen Mills Bemina.
