A six day study tour programme has been organized by the Department of Handlooms and Jute in Tamil Nadu where a 24 member team of industrialists of Sircilla Textile Park on IT and Textile Minister K Taraka Rama Rao’s instructions went to attend it.

The industrialists will study new designs and modern technology used in textile industry there. The study tour was flagged off by District Collector D Krishna Bhaskar.

Afghanistan government has called on industry owners to present plans and recommendations for ways to revive the textile industry in the country, as it harvest almost 60,000 tons of cotton a year but there are no factories in the country to process cotton, a finance ministry spokesman Ajmal Hamid Abdul Rahimzai said on Tuesday.

Industrialists have been asked for their recommendations on Kandahar and other textile companies so that the issue is discussed by the high economic council and it should be both in the interests of government and the private sector.

Uttarakhand has being given approval for setting up two textile parks, in these parks weavers which will provide hi tech infrastructure facilities, modern technology, training and raw material, said Union Minister of State for Textiles, Ajay Tamta.

But the state government has to decide where it wants to set these two textile parks which will provide benefit for weavers.

This will also help in reducing migration in the hilly areas in search of jobs and not only the weavers but educated and skilled youth will also get work opportunities.
