AMI protests against Chinese textile subsidies

Auburn Manufacturing, Inc. (AMI) based in South Central Maine, an industry leader in the manufacture of high performance coated textiles and composite fabrics for extreme temperature applications also manufactures end-use products including welding blankets, curtains and pads has filed a petition with the U.S. Department of Commerce and the U.S. International Trade Commission requesting imposition of antidumping and countervailing duties on certain amorphous silica fabric, an industrial textile, from the People’s Republic of China.

Highland Industries Inc. based in Kernersville, N.C.- a manufacturer of automotive, government and military, and industrial textiles in view of the increasing customer demand for its technical fabrics plans to invest $4.1 million to expand its Cheraw, S.C., manufacturing facility and add 24 jobs over the next two years.

According to Highland Industries, the fabrics are woven or knitted on state-of-the-art equipment at the Cheraw plant, which includes fabric forming and aqueous coating capabilities.
