IKEA launches Texas-themed textile line handcrafted products

The HÅLLNING collection of Texas-themed textile line products handcrafted was created in a collaboration between IKEA, Austin's Multicultural Refugee Coalition and its subsidiary, Open Arms is about to hit the shelves of IKEA’s Houston store.

The new collection will be available only at IKEA's Houston and Round Rock locations which consists of handmade cushion covers and wall decorations, available in two sizes and ranging from $14-18 for cushion covers to $29.99 for wall hangings. The pieces are crafted from reclaimed fabric from IKEA's "As-Is" area.

Ikea, the Swedish multinational company who achieved sales of ¤30.1 billion last year in its 361 stores worldwide, is looking to produce mattresses and flat-pack furniture in Indonesia next year, as well as textiles and batik-pattern products by 2017 as it has set its sights on boosting its export value, tenfold to US$1 billion in the long-run. It will produce more in Indonesia, said Tony Mampuk, Ikea Indonesia’s country government relation manager.

Furniture retailer Ikea India, the Indian subsidiary of Swedish furniture retailer Ikea AB plans to make investment of Rs.600 crore for setting up 2-3 outlets in the state of Maharashtra for which it has inked a pact with the Maharashtra government.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis told the legislature in a statement that the company will invest Rs 600 crore in Maharashtra to set up 2-3 outlets. Each outlet will create around 1000 jobs.

Global home furnishings leader, IKEA has announced a new initiative - ‘Make More in India’ aimed at potential suppliers and to expand IKEA’s supplier base as well as the categories of home furnishing products sourced in India. IKEA currently sources for Euro 315 million and plans to double the sourcing by 2020. It has 48 suppliers in India with 45,000 direct employees and about 400,000 people in its extended supply chain.

IKEA, a Swedish company registered in the Netherlands that designs and sells ready-to-assemble furniture (such as beds, chairs and desks), appliances and home accessories. In 2013, the Swedish furniture company in total used 110,000 tonnes of cotton in 2013, which uses around 0.6% of all cotton grown around the world, sourced 79,000 tonnes of cotton from more sustainable sources.
