Demand for better grades kept lint prices slightly higher

Cotton trading at Pakistan cotton market remained firm as buyers made deals for better grade of lint on slightly higher price. The leading buyers also strengthen their long position by making deals for better grade lint, as per traders.

Around 1,000 bales changed hands while fine quality cotton fetched better price around Rs 6,600 per maund.

The KCA spot rates remained strong at Rs 6,300 per maund. But some ready market deals changed hands below KCA's prevailing spot rates during the trading session.

There is a growing demand seen for blended fabrics such as cotton blended with viscose and polyester both in domestic as well as international markets, as their prices are economical and available of more value added products.

The price for blended cotton products is much cheaper than the pure cotton. Blended cotton fabrics are preferred more in the market as pure cotton is expensive and for a selected class, said an official from textile firm.

Dubow Textile Inc., one of the largest custom garment decorators in the Upper Midwest has part of its expansion plan; the 21,000 square foot addition will be built at Dubow’s current Lincoln Avenue facility, which now houses 75 employees.

This expansion is for the third time in five years, this time building a $1.5 million addition onto its St. Cloud factory and hiring another 20 workers over three years in an effort to meet growing demand for its customized embroidered and screenprinted clothing.

Greensboro, N.C-based Unifi Inc. a leading producer of multi-filament polyester and nylon textured yarns and related raw materials has announced plans to increase polyester texturing capacity in the United States and Central America by up to 10 percent.

The expansion includes new texturing machines in Yadkinville, N.C., Madison, N.C., and El Salvador.

Unifi reports the investment is driven by the growing demand for man-made yarns in the NAFTA and CAFTA regions.

Hamid Fabrics to invest Tk70 cr to set up yarn dyeing unit

Hamid Fabrics, a concern of Mahin Group, one of the most reliable players in Bangladesh textile industry, its core activity is to manufacture and export textile fabrics. To meet the growing demand the company plans to set up a yarn dyeing unit with a capacity of producing 15 tonnes of dye a day. The expansion project will involve investment to the tune of Tk70 crore.

The company will buy 50 Air Jet loom machine to set up the unit that will start production in the third quarter of 2015.
