Pak CCAC estimates cotton output at 12.60mn bales for season 2017-18

The Pakistan Cotton Crop Assessment Committee (CCAC) during its second meeting held here on Thursday with Federal Secretary Ministry of Commerce and Textile Industry Hassan Iqbal in the chair, reviewed the crop output in the country for the current season and estimated cotton crop production volume at 12.60 million bales for the crop season 2017-18.

The meeting was informed that cotton crop output was remained same as forecast in the first review meeting and total production was estimated at 12.60 million bales during the current season.

Buying by mills kept prices at present levels at cotton market

Buying by needy mills to cover their immediate requirements helped prices to hold present levels on the cotton market on Wednesday in the process of modest trading. The official spot rate was unchanged at Rs 5,550, dealers said.

In ready session, over 600 bales of cotton finalized between Rs 5100 and Rs 5850 and in Sindh, seed-cotton prices were at Rs 2800-3100, per 40 kg, as per dealers.

Cotton prices raised as trading gained momentum over tight supply. The Karachi Cotton Association (KCA) raised its spot rate by Rs50 to Rs6,350. The following were Thursday’s new crop Karachi Cotton Association (KCA) official spot rates for local dealings in Pak rupees for base grade 3 staple length 1-1/32” micronair value between 3.8 to 4.9 NCL.
 

Pakistani new cotton season takes off with a good amount of phutti

Pakistani new cotton season 2014-15 has taken off with some good amount of phutti reaching ginning factories of Punjab, as sowing in Sindh is delayed due to cyclone. Previously, the new cotton season started from Badin, Thatta, Sindh and Ghuddo.

Around 4000 maund phutti (equal to 300 bales) arrived at two ginning factories of Haroonabad, Punjab. Ginners are expecting that two factories of Shahdadpur are also likely to start operation during the week to start supply of new cotton crop to textile mills.
