Korea-Myanmar JV for building FOB garment factories on 500-acre land

Myanmar-based Olympus Asia Group and Korean company Panko Corporation joint venture for building free-on-board (FOB) garment factories on 500 acres of land, for which they are looking for land in Yangon, Bago or Ayeywarwady regions. The project will start within one year and it will take three years to build the required infrastructure.

Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (Prgmea) Chief Coordinator Ijaz A Khokhar urged the prime minister to intervene and frame a policy for a reduction in input costs, otherwise industrial units would not only close down, but millions of workers would also lose their jobs. The government need to address the problems of the value added textile industry sector on an urgent basis as there is a sharp drop seen in the current exports of textile and clothing during the first four month (July-October) of 2015 which may widen further in the next quarter.

Afghanistan government is ready to offer additional incentives and facilitation to Pakistani businessmen especially investors, which is reflected by the proposed exclusive special economic zone in North Afghanistan. This zone will serve as a strong base for Pakistan to trade with Central Asian States besides capturing Afghanistan market, said Afghanistan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Janan Mosazai on Saturday.

Pakistan Textile City gets approval for an additional Rs 1bn credit line from NBP

Pakistan Textile City can avail another Rs 1.16 billion financing from National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) to meet its financial needs, as NBP has increased the credit line against sovereign guarantee. With this approval, overall credit line for Textile City reached Rs 3.16 billion compared to Rs 2 billion previously.

In 2008, a credit line of Rs 2 billion was provided to Textile City but the entire amount has already been consumed during the last couple of years on account of development and operational expenses.
