Asian caprolactum markers, the SE and FE were up US$20 a ton in the third week of July which ended on 22nd July 2016. In China, offers for liquid spot were up US$50 a ton while solid goods offers also rose US$50 a ton on the week. Sinopec raised its July nomination which was up US$35 a ton for liquid goods while Fibrant’s July nomination were stable for liquid goods.
Caprolactum price rises on short supply and cost support
Asian markers, the SE and FE were up US$20 a ton in the second week of July. In China, offers for liquid spot were up US$15 a ton while solid goods offers were up US$15 a ton.
Caprolactum prices firmed up further in Asian markets on cost support and supply shortfall due to production cuts. Mainstream discussions for liquid and solid goods in China were up again that week while mainstream values for East European goods gained further amid slow liquidity and tepid demand.

Caprolactum prices were firm on range-bound feedstock benzene cost and decent downstream demand. On the back of better crude oil and benzene, caprolactum markets warmed up slightly on production cutbacks in China.

High end goods nomination for June had not been released.
Caprolactum prices were stable to weak over that week on back of moderate demand and range bound benzene cost.

Asian markers, the SE and FE markers rolled over during the week. Sinopec reduced its May contract nomination by US$80 a ton for liquid goods.
Caprolactum prices bounced back that week on moderate demand and reduced supply resulting from operating rate cuts. However, benzene cost eased sharply as prices fell across regions.
Demand for caprolactum rose slightly as run rates at polymerization units were maintained above 70% amid poor inventory level.

Demand was also to pick since the run rates at downstream yarn makers were down with inventory worth 28‐30 days.
