Turkish textile industry, which closely follows all the fairs in the world and participates in the events, closely monitors fashion as a result they can easily bring the latest trends to consumers. This has helped Turkey's textile and apparel exports approach $30 billion annually, while $7.5 billion of this amount comes from Merter, a district in Istanbul known for its ready-to-wear textiles.

ITM 2018, the largest international textile, yarn, knitting, weaving, dyeing, printing, finishing and hosiery machineries, sub-industries and chemicals exhibition, to be held in Turkey with more than 1000 textile technology producer companies to present their latest models in operation.

It will be held at TÜYAP Fair Convention and Congress Center, Istanbul – Turkey on 14-17 April 2018 which is organized by Tüyap Fairs and Exhibitions Organization Inc & Teknik Fairs Inc. partnership with the Cooperation of TEMSAD (Turkish Textile & Machinery Industrialists Association).

The Turkish textile industry is facing several issue, including the absence of a clear policy to cultivate cotton and the low liquidity in factories. There are also issues faced from customs smuggling, which is a threat to the local industry. The government is exerting efforts to improve the industry and lower the rate of losses in its treasury. Turkish textile industry players not finding enough Turks to work for them are now focusing to bring over Bangladeshi workers to Turkey, said Istanbul Textile and Apparel Exporter Associations (IHKIB) head Hikmet Tanrıverdi.

According to Tanrıverdi, they cannot find Turkish blue-collar workers to hire in their factories at the minimum wage, as a majority of them prefer to work in the services sector for the same amount of money in a cleaner working environment.
